The beauty of the intensive therapy format is that you can do a deep dive… without having to wrap up within the hour. Without six more things happening before you see your therapist again. Without worrying about insurance problems. You can just… do what you’ve gotta do.
When you deliberately step away from the daily grind, you find a protected space of quiet, safety, and focus that allows for roots to be dug up, for all the mixed feelings to be sorted out and cared for, and for you come into a new place of clarity and rest. You’re standing on solid ground and you can see the path forward. That thing that used to be overwhelming, is now totally do-able.
Some people choose intensives because they are facing a time-sensitive situation, life transition or decision. Perhaps you are a church or business leader faced with a crisis in your team. Perhaps something is telling you it’s time address that long-standing conflict with an extended family member, but it’s big and painful and you don’t know how to even start. Perhaps your child has reached a stage that is somehow bringing out the worst of your own upbringing and you don’t like how you’re acting but you can’t stop. Perhaps infidelity or addiction has come to light, now what? Perhaps you realize you barely leave the house any more because you’re so afraid of panic attacks — and you cannot go on this way.
Some people choose intensives because they have already been working on things in life or therapy and there is a particular piece they want to seriously tackle, such as:
- a difficult ongoing relationship that always dysregulates you
- reconnecting your relationship with God in the midst of grief or trauma
- You realize that since you changed jobs, you’ve been drinking or vaping more and more
- a recurring pattern where you feel like you are “always” taken advantage of, way too critical, unable to say what you really think, etc. (fill in your pattern here!)
- that thing that you’ve already been working on, but you’re tired of feeling stuck, or are worried it’s actually getting worse
Intensives can range from one half-day to 3 full days. All intensives include an initial 90-minute assessment session before the intensive and a 60-minute integrative session after the intensive.
